Tomato Red is a short musical whirlwind trip through the history of the tomato’s arrival and presence in the United States. This number is an imagined amalgam of press conferences between 1962 and 1984, during which we learn that Presidents John F. Kennedy, Richard M. Nixon, and Ronald Reagan all had their own unique and perhaps fraught relationships with the American tomato. All three roles must be sung by women.
