The New Songbooks Are Here!

Name the film!

If you know this reference, congratulations—you’re also old!

Seriously, though, I am pretty excited that after many years of languishing on my to-do list, I’ve finally assembled two volumes of I Have Songs: The Rachel J. Peters Songbook, now available for purchase! These standalone songs and cycles span 25 years of musical rumination. And, with one brief exception, they don’t even include any of my theatrical work, which is most of my work, so there will definitely be more down the road. Hats off to the folks who provided the necessary kicks in the pants to make it happen (especially Kevin Gwinn, who requested hard copies for his students to access at the University of Central Oklahoma), and to the many performers over the years who have worked so hard—and still do—to bring this material to life.

Mezzo-soprano Kate Tombaugh, pianist Alan Johnson, and I have not lost sight of our goal to put some of these selections out into the universe on an album. Accordingly, a donation to our GoFundMe of $25-$49 gets you Volume 1, and a donation of $50 or more gets you both volumes. Either way, they can be yours for future concerts, cabarets, recitals, or holiday gifts for your favorite musical misfits.

Proceed as you prefer, be like Steve, rip into these books, and keep me posted with any details regarding your new renditions of this work!

Volume 1: In and Out of Tunes
