WORLD PREMIERE: American Opera Project First Glimpse, 2012

During my fellowship with The American Opera Project in the 2011-2012 season, I knew I needed to call on my old grad school pal, Robert Maddock, for some gleefully demented lyrics for my tenor assignment.

NOTE: If you program it, the song may be received as more controversial than intended. It became a whole thing for a while, and that’s probably even more likely now than it was back when it premiered. There’s only one way to know for sure! In any case, I strongly suggest watching the performance video first.

Fun fact: In 2005, Robert and I auditioned as a team to write the Broadway musical based on a certain business-themed reality TV show. We were not chosen. For many reasons, this may have been for the best…?
