Opera in the Park...ing Lot!

Here’s a dispatch from collaborator Lisa Despain in Ogden, Utah, where our short opera No Ladies in the Lady’s Book makes its Utah Opera debut this week:

“Well, this was unexpected and unforgettable.  At last night’s evening of the Utah Opera Golden Spike Commissions, mid way through Tony’s opera, the power shut off and then the fire alarm rang.

As we stood in the parking lot wondering what to do, Omer jumped to the rescue and by a complete accident Robert and the resident artists found a piano.

They wheeled it to the parking lot, grabbed what props, music stands, chairs, — what they could find and then launched into a parking lot performance finishing my opera as the lights faded to dark.

As Christine stated, ‘This was some first-class opera in the park....ing lot!’”

Lisa managed to snap a few photos of the incident, showcasing the beauty and terror of live theatre!

UPDATE: You can now view a non-parking lot performance here!
